Located in the Daejeon Yuseong Hot Spring area, the Yuseong Foot Bath Experience Center is an outdoor foot bath supplied with natural hot spring water at 40 degrees Celsius. It features four foot baths spanning an area of 20,778 square meters, allowing 200 people to enjoy foot bathing simultaneously. This foot bath experience is provided free of charge for tourists visiting Daejeon to enjoy the hot springs casually. The Yuseong district of Daejeon manages water quality and cleanliness carefully, making it a safe place to enjoy foot bathing. There is a separate area to wash feet before soaking. Foot bathing, involving immersing feet and legs in hot water, improves blood circulation and helps relieve stress and pain, making it a beneficial bathing method for people of all ages. This place is especially popular among the elderly.
Yuseong Hot Springs is known as the place where King Taejo of Joseon bathed while scouting for a new royal capital site at Gyeryongsan. Underground hot spring water rises along the fault line of the oldest geological layer, the Paleozoic layer. Especially near the Gyeryong Spatel, a foot bath experience center is established in the park where visitors can experience Yuseong Hot Springs. This outdoor, park-like facility is a large-scale open-air hot spring foot bath attracting an average of 500 visitors daily and about 1,000 on weekends, making it a famous spot in Yuseong. It is also well equipped with convenient facilities such as water channels for washing feet, wind dryers for drying, and restrooms, making it a frequently visited tourist attraction in Yuseong.
Yuseongoncheon Hot Springs is located in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. It is a venerable hot spring area known since the 7th century. The hot spring water temperature ranges from 27 to 56 degrees Celsius, and it contains various beneficial minerals with an alkaline pH ranging from 7.5 to 8.5, flowing from a depth of 200 meters underground. The streets are lined with retusa fringe trees, and in May, the Retusa Fringe Flower Festival takes place.
Yuseong Oncheon District is a large-scale hot spring tourism town located about 11 km west from the old city center of Daejeon, forming the core of Yuseong-gu. Among Korea's 116 hot spring districts, it boasts the oldest history and the largest scale in terms of reserves and usage nationwide. The hot spring water of Yuseong is generated from a granite fault fractured zone composed of 50 to 400 meters, and is a high-temperature hot spring discharged from depths below 200 meters underground, with temperatures ranging from approximately 27 to 56°C. The hot spring water contains about 60 different components, and is a mildly alkaline simple spring with a pH of 7.5 to 8.5. It is especially famous as a silica hot spring due to its silica (SiO2) content exceeding 40 mg/L.
Yurim Park is situated along the Gapcheon Riverside in Yuseong, Daejeon. The park is graced with blooming cherry blossoms in spring, and it hosts a lively chrysanthemum festival in autumn. The park features a small pond resembling the Korean peninsula, adorned with a traditional Korean water mill, lotuses, and a pavilion. The diverse amenities of the park, such as a lawn with an outdoor stage and a small library, make the visit more enjoyable.
Yurim Park is a park located near the Gapcheon River by the Yuseong-gu Office in Daejeon. It can be accessed via Hanbat-daero or Oncheon-dong-ro, and the closest highway is the Honam Expressway branch Yuseong IC. Public transportation is available via Daejeon Metro Line 1 Wolpyeong Station. Nearby are Yuseong Hot Springs, Gung-dong Rodeo Street, and Chungnam National University Daedeok Campus. The park is famous for its spring cherry blossoms and autumn chrysanthemums, with a chrysanthemum festival held in the fall. It is a place for walks, outings, and picnics. In Bandoji, a small garden shaped like the Korean Peninsula, you can see a pretty waterwheel, lotus flowers, and a pavilion with cool shade. An outdoor stage is also installed, where various performances and events are held. 'Yurim' is the pen name of Lee In-gu, the founder of Gyeryong Construction, and the park was named to commemorate Gyeryong Construction's creation of this park.
