Chung-uisa, located near Yesan Deoksan Hot Springs, is a historic site built where Yun Bong-gil (1908–1932) was born and lived until he went to China, and it was selected as Yesan's second scenic spot. Yun Bong-gil was born and raised here, promoting the spirit of resistance against Japan and carrying out rural enlightenment movements. Later, he went to China and on April 29, 1932, at the Japanese army’s Shanghai Battle commemorative ceremony held in Hongkou Park, Shanghai, he threw a bomb to announce Korea’s will for independence to the world. The site preserves 'Gwanghyeondang,' the house where Yun Bong-gil was born; 'Jeohandang,' meaning 'the house that saves Korea,' where he lived until leaving for China; and 'Buhungwon,' where he conducted rural enlightenment activities. There are a historic monument and statue in honor of his achievements, Chung-uisa shrine to commemorate his spirit, and the Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall exhibiting his belongings. A memorial ceremony honoring Yun Bong-gil is held annually on April 29, the day of the incident.

Sudeoksa is a temple located on the southern foothills of Deoksungsan (495m) in the Charyeong Mountains near Deoksan Hot Springs. It is one of the largest temples of the Jogye Order in the Naepo region of Chungnam and serves as the main temple of the Jogye Order's 7th district. Founded in the 6th century during the Baekje era, it boasts nearly 1,500 years of history and is renowned as the top scenic spot in Yesan-gun. The founding legend tells of a young man who fell in love with a maiden whose marriage condition was the building of a temple. After completing the temple, when the man held the maiden’s hand, she disappeared, later revealed to be an incarnation of Gwanseumbosal (Avalokitesvara). Sudeoksa has undergone multiple renovations during the Goryeo, Joseon, and Japanese colonial periods. The temple houses cultural assets from the Baekje to Joseon eras, including the National Treasure Daeungjeon Hall, treasures like the Nosanabul Gwaebultang and the Myobeop Yeonhwagyong sutra, and numerous Chungcheongnam-do designated cultural properties such as the three-story pagoda and seven-story pagoda. The Geunyeok Seongbogwan preserves various Buddhist artifacts. The site also features the thatched house where painter Lee Ungno (1904-1989) worked, Lee Ungno Seonsaeksaji (Sudeok Inn), and Seon Art Museum showcasing works by Lee Ungno and modern artists alongside Buddhist art. The Temple Stay program offers diverse programs tailored to demand and preferences.

Lee Ungno Historic Site (Sudeok Guesthouse) is a thatched house preserved within Deoksung Mountain Sudeoksa Temple in Yesan. It was the home where painter Goam Lee Ungno (1904–1989) worked on his art, and earlier, Korea's first female painter Na Hye-seok also stayed here. Lee Ungno, known for his unique Oriental painting technique, purchased this house in 1944 and used it as a refuge during the Korean War, continuing his artwork until he moved to France in 1959. After being involved in the Dongbaekrim incident in 1967, he returned briefly to recuperate here; during that time, petroglyphs he left on nearby rocks remain to this day. The building's structure has five rooms facing the road, with wings of 6.5 rooms and 4 rooms respectively in a 'ㄷ'-shaped layout. It was designated a Chungcheongnam-do monument in 1996. Next to it, the Seon Art Museum was built to exhibit works by Lee Ungno and modern artists, along with Buddhist art. Surrounding attractions include Deoksung Mountain, Sudeoksa Temple, Deoksan Hot Spring, Gayasan Mountain, Haemi Fortress, and Deoksan Confucian School, allowing for connected tourism.
