해가 서쪽 바다로 기울기 시작하면 등대 주변이 붉게 물들며 환상적인 노을 풍경을 연출한다. 대신등대는 2006년 한국의 아름다운 길 100선에 선정된 영광 백수해안도로 위에 자리한 항로표지 시설로, 법성포항과 계마항을 오가는 선박의 안전 운항을 지원하는 역할을 한다. 기암괴석과 광활한 갯벌, 칠산 앞바다가 어우러지는 백수해안도로는 길용리에서 석구미 마을까지 16.8km에 이르는 서해안 대표 드라이브 코스로, 대신등대는 그중에서도 노을과 등대를 함께 담을 수 있는 해넘이 명소로 많은 방문객이 찾는다. 인근에는 국내 유일의 노을 전시관과 3.5km 해안 노을길 목재 데크 산책로가 조성되어 있어 드라이브와 도보 여행을 함께 즐기기 좋다.
