Yeongdeok Hyanggyo was established in the Goryeo Dynasty. At the time of its founding, it consisted of Daeseongjeon, East and West Mu, Haengnang, and a wall. During King Seonjo's reign in the Joseon Dynasty, the pavilion Taehwalu was built, and in the 45th year of King Sukjong's reign (1706), Gyeonggak, Jeonsacheong, Jubang, Byeolgo, and Haincheong were constructed. Currently, Daeseongjeon, Myeongnyundang, Taehwalu, Dongjae, Seojae, and the managing office remain. According to "Yeongyeongseungnam," until the building was destroyed in the war before 1950, there were Daeseongjeon, Myeongnyundang, Yanghoru, Dongjaesil, Jeonsacheong, Haincheong, and Jusa. The arrangement of tablets and ritual procedures at Yeongdeok Hyanggyo are largely the same as those at Yeonghae Hyanggyo. Yeongdeok-gun and Yeongdeok Hyanggyo have prepared a traditional wedding support program based on our old wedding rites with a modern touch, accepting applications year-round for residents or natives of the county and conducting traditional weddings. The traditional wedding at Yeongdeok Hyanggyo Myeongnyundang, led by hyanggyo officers, takes about one hour with the preparation of the wedding table, palanquin rides, lighting the wedding hall, and sequential rituals including Jeonanrye, Gyobae, and Hapgeunrye. To enhance the celebration and meaningfulness of the wedding, pungmul performances are also added. In particular, all props including the wedding venue, bride and groom's ceremonial robes, ceremonial table settings, and flower palanquins are provided free of charge, enabling a special wedding that harmonizes tradition and modernity.
