Dokcheon 5-day Market has been held since its establishment on October 1, 1964, taking place on the 4th and 9th of each month (also on the 14th, 19th, 24th, and 29th). It covers a land area of 4,670㎡ with 934 shops and thrives alongside about 200 surrounding stores. This traditional market, held regularly every five days, actively trades agricultural, marine, and livestock products. At one time, up to 100 to 200 cattle were traded daily at the ox market. Especially famous are Yeongam-gun’s specialties, including three-legged octopus and salted seafood, attracting many visitors at all times.
