It is a ferry crossing that served as a strategic key point from the Three Kingdoms period, playing a central role in material exchange via the Imjin River. In the 1930s, it prospered enough for Hwashin Department Store to open a branch due to material exchanges between Kaesong and Hanseong, but it declined due to the Korean War and the division between North and South Korea. It is also known as the infiltration route for the January 21 armed communist incident. Yeoncheon Gorangpo Port Historic Park vividly recreates the engraved history and geographical features of Gorangpo Port. Visitors can experience realistic history and security through virtual and augmented reality, and the park includes children's play areas, multi-purpose spaces, and seminar rooms.

The Battle of Baengmagoji refers to the battle fought during the Korean War (October 1952) over a small unnamed hill located 3km north of Daema-ri, Cheorwon-eup, Cheorwon-gun, between the Republic of Korea Army's 9th Infantry Division (Division Commander Kim Jong-o) and three divisions of the Chinese Communist Party's 38th Army, ending in victory for our army. From October 6, 1952, for 10 days, more than 20,000 deaths occurred on both sides over a hill with an altitude of only 395m. During the battle, the enemy fired 55,000 artillery shells and our side fired 220,000 shells; with 12 rounds of fierce battles, the owner of the hill changed 24 times. Due to the fierce fight, the mountain shape transformed to resemble a reclining white horse, hence the name Baengmagoji. The Baengmagoji Memorial Monument was established to console the souls of 17,535 dead from both the Korean and Chinese Communist forces (3,146 from our side, 14,389 from the CCP) and is divided into three parts: the hall of retrospection, the hall of commemoration, and the hall of resolution to remember the desperate battleground. The Hall of Retrospection features a memorial stone and an incense place for the fallen soldiers, the Hall of Commemoration includes a war monument expressing the wish for reunification and commemorating the victory, and a museum displaying the relics of General Kim Jong-o (the Baengma unit commander at the time). The Hall of Resolution houses the Bell of Freedom and currently serves as a national security education center.

The Workers' Party Headquarters located in Gwanjeon-ri, Cheorwon-eup, Gangwon Province, is a three-story building completed in 1946. Until the outbreak of the Korean War, it was used as the Workers' Party Headquarters of North Korea. Currently, the entire building is blackened and densely marked with shell and bullet holes due to extensive damage during the Korean War. However, this appearance reminds visitors of the Korean War and the reality of Korea's division, leading to its use as a filming location for famous singers' music videos and as a venue for well-known concerts. Presently, the Cheorwon Workers' Party Headquarters is operated as a security tourism course by Cheorwon-gun and attracts many tourists. It has been under government protection since being registered as a modern cultural heritage in February 2001.
