[A large, softly rounded mountain hiding a world of wildflowers] Yongmunsan is a prominent mountain seen when traveling to Seoraksan from the Gyeongin area. Along National Road 44, there are taller mountains, but they are usually viewed from roads following valleys, so their scale is not fully appreciated. However, Yongmunsan stands like a folding screen at the northern end of Yongmun-myeon in Bisanbiya, making its grandeur easily noticeable. The summit is softly rounded, resembling the Yeouido Exhibition Hall inflated by wind, giving a majestic but gentle impression. In contrast, Baegunbong Peak on the southern ridge, a sharp triangular peak piercing the sky, leaves a lasting impression. Its appearance over the morning mist in early autumn or winter is truly stirring. Unlike the steep, rocky southern face, the northern side forms a gentle mountain covered with wildflowers. Early spring brings Eoreji flowers, and in May, fields of Pinamul flowers can be enjoyed in peaceful solitude. This compensates for the disappointment of not being able to reach the summit due to national facilities. In autumn, the ginkgo tree at Yongmunsa Temple is a notable sight. While many thousand-year-old trees are often 'maygari' (false), this one is genuine.
There are two daily buses to Yongmunsa Temple from both Dong Seoul Terminal and Sangbong Terminal. For the Gail-ri area, take the famous mountain hiking bus from Sangbong Terminal, which runs eight times a day. Take National Road 6 and exit at the Yongmun Interchange.
