Climbing to Seorak’s hidden scenic spots | Travel Course | K-Travel Mate

Located in Yangyang-gun, the southern Seorak mountain valley Heullimgol is named because the high mountains and deep valley always seem foggy and cloudy. It is known for its beautiful natural scenery, and if you follow the Heullimgol valley up to Deungseondae, you can see the wide-open refreshing views of southern Seorak in all directions. Beyond Deungseondae, you can walk past Jujeongol to Osaek Yakso, a course where magnificent rocks and a cool valley create a perfect landscape. Due to flood damage in 2015, the road over Hangyeryeong was destroyed and due to rockfall accidents, the area was closed until it was reopened after 7 years in 2022. At that time, 22 rockfall sections were bypassed and safety facilities such as rockfall prevention tunnels were reinforced. Representative attractions of Seoraksan Heullimgol include Yeosim Waterfall, Deungseondae (Manmulsang Observatory), Deungseon Waterfall, Geumgangmun, and Jujeongol. Among these, Yeosim Waterfall is a 20-meter high waterfall cascading down a steep rocky cliff. The section from Yeosim Waterfall to the entrance of Deungseondae, about 300 meters, is very steep and known as Kkaldak Hill. The attractions of Heullimgol are popular particularly in autumn due to the beautiful fall foliage. Seoraksan Heullimgol operates with a daily quota of 5,000 visitors by designated time, so reservations must be made through the Korea National Park Service reservation system.

남설악의 오색약수에서 3㎞ 지점에 이르면 용소폭포, 12폭포로 갈라지는 삼거리가 있는데 이곳에서 12폭포까지의 계곡이 주전골이다. 옛날 외지고 골이 깊은 이곳에서 위폐를 만들었다 하여 주전골이라 한다. 주위에 선녀탕, 독주암, 12폭포와 용소폭포가 있어 운치를 더해 주며, 제 2오색약수터가 있어 산행의 갈증을 씻어주며 산길은 평탄하여 남녀노소 모두가 함께 등산을 즐길 수 있다.

Located 20km west of Yangyang and 7.5km southeast from Hangyeryeong, Osaek Mineral Springs emerge from three rock beds along a stream, containing iron and carbonated water. The mineral springs in Osaek-ri are a natural monument, discovered around 1500 by a monk from Osaekseoksa Temple. Named after the five-colored flowers growing behind Seongguksa Temple, Osaek Mineral Springs discharge about 1,500 liters daily of iron-rich water. The springs are also famous for their scenic surroundings and their location along the trail to the summit of Seoraksan.

Osaek Carbonated Hot Spring is a hot spring facility located within Osaek Green Yard Hotel in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do. Osaek Green Yard Hotel is situated at an altitude of 647 meters and is the only complex hot spring hotel within Namseoraksan National Park. The hot spring water here is rich in metal ions such as copper and zinc, as well as minerals like sodium, magnesium, and potassium. These components are effective for fatigue recovery and boosting immunity, and are known to help improve blood circulation and skin health. After soaking in the hot spring bath, visitors can further balance their body's energy through rock wave therapy. This offers more than simple relaxation, allowing for true healing and recovery.

송천떡마을로 알려진 이 마을은 공동으로 떡을 만들어 전국으로 보낸다. 그 만큼 맛이 좋다는 얘긴데 그 이유는 기계가 아니라 직접 손으로 떡을 치고 빚기 때문이다. 또 한가지 이유는 쌀이 좋기 때문이다. 이상하게도 예로부터 송천리에서는 농약을 치지 않아도 될 정도로 병충해가 없고 농사가 잘 되었던 것이다. 송천떡마을에서는 떡만드는 광경을 구경할 수 있으며, 관광객들이 직접 참여하는 떡빚기 행사도 개최한다.
