Seolmaejae Natural Recreation Forest is a metropolitan recreation forest reachable within an hour from Seoul. It was opened on June 1, 1999, as a natural recreation forest, covering a total area of 70 hectares. Seolmaejae refers to the mountain pass at the entrance of the forest's main gate, named because plum blossoms bloomed in the snow during heavy winter snowfall in the past. The forest features pine and larch plantations, clusters of korosoe (maple trees), azaleas, and pine tree hiking trails that connect to Yumyeongsan and Yongmunsan Mountains.
