Hoeamsa Temple | Attraction Guide | K-Travel Mate

Hoeamsa Temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism is a millennium-old temple that formed the foundation of Jogye Order practice. Located in the naturally auspicious site of Samsan Yangsu, the monk Jigong established a foundation here, his disciple Naong Seonsa opened a practice center, and Naong's disciple Muhak Daesa carried out a major restoration along with King Taejo Yi Seong-gye. As such, Hoeamsa is a historic site and a representative sacred place infused with the spiritual practices of these three great monks and Seonsas. The current temple is built on a small hermitage site that protects the burial pagodas of the three great monks of the old Hoeamsa, safeguarding their legacy and allowing visitors to feel the breath of practice.
