후곡약수터는 6·25 전쟁 중 파괴되었으나 1956년 제7사단 이성규 소장의 지시로 보수되었고 그를 기념하는 비가 세워졌다. 인근보다 약 1m 낮은 지점에 위치한 약수정에는 두 개의 샘이 나란히 솟고 있으며, 철분 성분으로 인해 바닥이 붉게 물들어 있고 탄산 성분으로 인해 물맛이 짜릿하다. 이 약수로 밥을 지으면 푸른빛이 감도는 등 신비로운 특성이 있다. 탄산이온과 규산이온, 불소 등 위장과 치아 건강에 좋은 성분을 다량 함유한 광천수로 수려한 자연경관과 어우러져 관광·휴양지로 주목받고 있다. 현재 이곳은 국민관광지로 지정되어 다양한 편의시설이 확충되고 있다.
