[The tranquil mountain path of Mireuksan] Located south of Tongyeong City, Mireuksan stands prominently in the center of Mireukdo Island. It is also called Yonghwasan, named after the ancient Yonghwa Temple on the mountain. The names Mireuksan and Yonghwasan are used together because Mireuk Buddha is said to descend in the future at Yonghwa Assembly. At the base are the ancient Yonghwa Temple and the mountain hermitages Gwaneumam and Dosoram, as well as Miraesa Temple, the birthplace of the Hyobong clan. Although not very tall, it is a renowned mountain embodying many virtues, featuring clear streams flowing through dense forests, and various uniquely shaped rocks and caves. The ancient temples and mineral springs, along with spring azaleas and autumn foliage, are notable. From the summit, the view of the Hallyeohaesang archipelago is indescribably beautiful, and on clear days, Japan's Tsushima Island can be seen.
The starting point is Tongyeong. - From Tongyeong to Yonghwa Temple: use city buses number 20 or 21. Take the Daejeon-Tongyeong Expressway to Tongyeong, then local road 67 to Yonghwa Temple.
