Wando Geumil Suhyup Live Fish and Fresh Fish… | Market Guide

Wando is Korea's largest fishing area where delicious live fish are caught in the cleanest sea. Located north of Wando Port, Wando Geumil Suhyup Live Fish and Fresh Fish Auction Market sells live and fresh fish caught in Wando and nearby waters. It serves as both an auction site for seafood caught in Wando-gun every morning and a place where intermediate wholesalers sell the auctioned items. Auctions start at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.; the public cannot participate but can observe. After auctions, the public can purchase fresh live fish from wholesalers, and nearby sashimi restaurants offer fish slicing services for a service fee. The market does not auction or sell illegally caught or imported seafood. On the second floor, about 50 shops sell dried seafood products. In front of the market is the Wando (Sea World) breakwater with the Singing Lighthouse, which is attractive during the day and when illuminated at night.
