Barefoot Youth Street, a representative cultural tourist street in Jung-gu, Ulsan, was promoted from 2016 as part of the Jungang-dong urban regeneration project to preserve the nostalgia of the alleys bustling with workers and students in Ulsan during the 70s and 80s. It is divided into music zone, movie zone, and fashion zone, with murals depicting popular movie posters and Bruce Lee to represent each section's characteristics. Especially in the music zone, motion sensors play 70s-80s music when people pass by, evoking memories from that era. The worn-out floor was refurbished, with rest areas and flower beds created near the slopes. Stairs for resting are also provided for visitors who get tired while walking. At night, dazzling neon signs light up, offering a different scene from the daytime. Barefoot Youth Street, with old restaurants, clothing stores, karaoke rooms, and unique pubs scattered throughout the alleys, is a place where you can glimpse Ulsan's history and culture.
Ulsan Culture Street is a 1,000-meter-long art street with various galleries, small theaters, cafes, and restaurants. The original city center, which was the center of Ulsan's economic development, has been transformed into an Art Street and a hub for local artists by infusing culture into it, and it is a place where artists can freely create, exhibit and sell their works, just like Montmartre Hill in Paris. There are many art-related attractions, making it a must-see destination for tourists. Every weekend, there are various cultural events such as an art fair, busking performances, street exhibitions, and concerts, where artists and citizens can communicate directly.
Hakseong Park was established when Chujeon Kim Hongjo purchased 23,141㎡ of private land here in 1913, planting black pine, cherry trees, and plum trees to create the park. He did not keep it as private property but donated it to Ulsan-myeon at the time, thus becoming the present-day Hakseong Park. Within the park are the Spring Letter Song Monument, the Memorial for Fallen Soldiers, and a monument to Kim Hongjo. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the scenery is truly beautiful. Above the park, there is a badminton court, three plazas, and a walking path winding throughout the park, making it a very popular spot for dating during the cherry blossom season. In autumn, fallen maple leaves accumulate and create a different kind of charm in the park.
This is an arts street stretching 1,000m, featuring Ulsan Dongheon, Gaksa, and the municipal art museum at its center, along with various galleries, small theaters, cafes, and popular restaurants. Located in the original downtown area that was the center of Ulsan's economic development, it has been transformed into a cultural hub and arts street, serving as a focal point for local artists. Like Montmartre Hill in Paris, it is a place where painters freely create, exhibit, and sell their works. Filled with art-related attractions such as Dream Garden, Taehwa Seowon, Ulsan Keunaegi House, Ulsan Jung-gu Living Culture Center, and Goboksu Music Hall, it is also a must-visit route for tourists. Every weekend, the street hosts diverse cultural events including the Five-Color Art Fair, busking performances, street exhibitions, and concerts, providing direct communication between artists and citizens. Representative festivals of Jung-gu like the May Maduhee and December Snowflower Festival are held here, and it is adjacent to Youth Street and Ulsan Keunaegi Night Market, offering abundant sights, entertainment, and food.
