The ecological wetland is a wetland created in an eco-friendly way to purify water quality. The stems and leaves of various aquatic plants such as reeds and lotuses that grow in the wetland slow down the flow of water and cause suspended solids to settle. The stems and roots of the plants provide a habitat for various microorganisms, which adsorb and decompose various pollutants dissolved in the water, thereby cleaning the water. Ulsan's Hoeya Dam Ecological Park was selected as a 'Hidden Tourist Destination of the Year.' Hoeya Dam Ecological Wetland, selected as a limited-access tourist site, is an eco-friendly artificial wetland created to improve water quality in the upstream area of the dam and is temporarily open from mid-July to mid-August when lotus flowers bloom. The trail consists of a round trip from the Tongcheon Guard Post Meeting Square to the ecological wetland and takes about two hours at an adult's pace while listening to explanations from an ecological guide. To protect the water quality within the water source protection area, the number of visitors is limited to 140 per day.
