Sinbulsan⛰️ 1159 m

Introduction

[The main mountain of Eonyang boasting vast silver grass fields] Sinbulsan features a unique area called Sinbul Plain, a vast mountain-top silver grass field located between Yeongchwisan and itself. To the east, a long rocky ridge called Dinosaur Ridge extends, distinguishing it from surrounding mountains that mainly boast rounded slopes. Despite this, it blends in smoothly as it continues with other thousand-meter peaks like Ganwol, Gaji, Sangun, and Goheon, forming a grand mountain backdrop for the long-established town of Eonyang, which is enclosed by a fortress. The eastern Hongryu Waterfall and western Paraeso Waterfall are also distinctive features not found in neighboring mountains. Downstream of Paraeso Waterfall lies a wide rock stream where the beautiful two-story pavilion Jakcheonjeong is situated. Additionally, the Danjo Mountain Fortress is built atop the mountain, making Sinbulsan a specially chosen main mountain among the five mountain ranges. When combined with Unmun and Jaeyaksan, these form the so-called "Yeongnam Alps." This name originates from the Japanese Northern and Southern Alps, which were named after the European Alps. Although there is no white perennial snow like those ranges, it is known as the Yellow Alps, boasting golden silver grass fields instead.

Visitor guide

Getting there

Eonyang is the starting point. Taking the local bus bound for Yangsan, which runs nine times a day, allows disembarking anywhere on the eastern side of the mountain. For the western side, use the direct bus to Cheongdo, which runs three times daily. Express buses to Eonyang depart four times (one late-night) daily from Dong Seoul Terminal and four times from Nambu Terminal. Buses also run from cities outside Gyeongsangnam-do such as Osan, Suwon, and Ansan. There are numerous buses from nearby Ulsan and Busan. The route from Seoul uses the Gyeongbu Expressway, Seoul San IC, then National Road 35 or National Road 24.
