Deokgu Valley is approximately a 3km long valley, featuring scaled reproductions of famous bridges from around the world along the valley, creating a distinctive landscape. It is also home to Deokgu Hot Spring, the only naturally occurring hot spring in Korea. The area mainly consists of granitic gneiss and granite, with andesite, which solidified after rising through cracks in these rocks, found in various locations. The flow of the stream in Deokgu Valley is clearly influenced by these rocks. The stream flows northeast before turning east due to the presence of a hard granite layer in the northern area, making it difficult for the water to erode downward. To the east, andesite developed along fractured gaps is easily eroded by flowing water compared to granitic gneiss or granite, facilitating the formation of water channels. The famous Yongso Waterfall in Deokgu Valley has gently curved drops, shaped by the relatively resistant granitic gneiss that is not easily eroded by the valley water.
Jukbyeon Port, along with Hupo Port, is one of the major fishing ports on the East Coast located in the northern part of Uljin. It was designated as a national fishing port on December 29, 1995. It is especially known for abundant catches of squid, mackerel, saury, sandfish, and flatfish, and is famous as the largest snow crab fishing port in South Korea. Reflecting its large and varied seafood catches, many seafood processing factories line the area around Jukbyeon Port. Every November, the Jukbyeon Port Seafood Festival is held, offering fresh seafood and a variety of entertainment. Events such as barehanded live fish catching are also held during the festival. Around Jukbyeon Port, there is a vast white sand beach extending from Deokcheon-ri Baeksajang to Hujeong-ri and Jukbyeon Lighthouse southward to Bongpyeong-ri and Onyang-ri. This entire white sand beach is sometimes called Bongpyeong Beach, stretching about 10 km. Nearby are filming locations for the drama and the variety show .
Mangyang Beach, located in Sanpo 4-ri, Geunnam-myeon, Uljin-gun, has relatively shallow water and a narrow width, but it is known for having higher water temperatures compared to other beaches on the East Coast. The beach features dense pine forests, making it ideal for walks. Around the beach, there are many tourist attractions including the natural monument Seongryugul Cave, Bulyoung Valley, and a coastal road, making it a popular vacation spot that combines sightseeing and relaxation. Nearby attractions include Mangyangjeong, one of the Eight Views of Gwandong, Expo Park, Seongryugul Cave, and the Freshwater Fish Experience Center, offering various activities. The area also hosts a county-level sunrise event annually at Sunrise Park, where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the East Sea sunrise.
Mangyangjeong Pavilion, one of the Gwandong Palgyeong (Eight Scenic Views of the East), was originally located on a beach hill in Mangyang-ri, Giseong-myeon during the Goryeo period. During the Joseon Sejong era, Chae Shinbo moved it to the foothill of Hyeonjongsan in Mangyang-ri, stating the pavilion was old and worn. After being damaged by a storm in 1517, it was rebuilt in 1518 (the 13th year of King Jungjong) when Anryeomsa Yoon Heein requested the Pyeonghae County Governor Kim Sewoo to restore it. In 1860 (the 11th year of King Cheoljong), Uljin Governor Lee Heeho, along with county officer Im Hakyoung, relocated it to its current site in Dunsan-dong, Sanpo-ri, Geunnam-myeon. The pavilion sits on a hill overlooking the Wangpicheon River flowing in front of Seongryugul Cave and offers a panoramic view of the vast East Sea waves. It is considered the best scenic spot among the Gwandong Palgyeong, and King Sukjong honored it with a calligraphic plaque titled 'Gwandong Jeilru'. Poems by Kings Sukjong and Jeongjo, as well as writings by Jeong Chu, Jeong Cheol, and Chae Su about Mangyangjeong survive to this day.
