Located in Uiseong-gun, Gyeongbuk, Uiseong Tapsan Mineral Hot Spring opened in 1995. With its reputed excellent water quality, it attracts many visitors from inland areas of Gyeongbuk such as Uiseong, Yeongju, Yecheon, and Yeongyang, as well as weekend hot spring visitors from Daegu and Gumi, along with sightseeing buses using the Jungang Expressway, making it very popular. It is believed to have been formed about 70 million years ago by volcanic activity from nearby Geumseongsan (金城山). The water quality has a pH of 9.0 to 9.3℃ and a discharge temperature of 25.7 to 26.9℃, making it relatively cool. It has been identified as the highest germanium hot spring in Korea (72.4㎍). Therefore, the hot spring water is known to have special benefits, including skin beauty, diabetes, blood pressure, stomach diseases, arthritis, and even anti-cancer effects. Uiseong Tapsan Mineral Hot Spring has facilities with an onsen bath accommodating 600 people at once, 30 guest rooms, and additional amenities such as a karaoke room, a specialty restaurant, a banquet hall, and a direct sales market for agricultural products. It is easily accessible beside the Jungang Expressway, and nearby there are many tourist attractions such as Sujeongsa (水淨寺), dinosaur footprint fossils, Gounsa (孤雲寺), Binggye Valley (氷溪溪谷), and Uiseong Tapri Five-story Stone Pagoda.
