Taebaek Sangjang-dong Mural Village is a resident-led mural village that began in 2011 as part of Taebaek City's New Village Movement. In the face of decline due to the fading coal industry, local residents voluntarily participated in creating murals and improving the environment, transforming the area into a new village. The murals realistically depict the hard lives of miners, the sorrows of their families, and the daily life and legends of the mining village. Flowers and murals blend among small fences, houses, and narrow alleys, creating a unique atmosphere. Completed by residents and volunteers, this village won the grand prize at the 2012 Korea Land Grand Festival.

As the source of the Nakdong River, it is located in the city center, where the water springing from this pond flows majestically through the vast Yeongnam Plain. The pond is divided into Sangji, Jungji, and Haji, with a circumference of 100m, and about 5,000 tons of water emerge daily, which has also been used as a source for tap water. According to legend, the land where the Hwang family once lived turned into the pond after they gave manure to an old monk requesting alms instead of money, causing the earth to shake. This place is also one of Korea's top 100 famous waters.

Founded in 1971, Hwangji Free Market is a traditional market with about 170 stores and over 50 years of history and tradition. It offers high-quality local specialties of the Taebaek region grown in the highland area (such as danggui, cheongung), various mushrooms, fresh and delicious fish caught off the nearby East Coast, fruits, general goods, clothing, shoes, and all kinds of manufactured products for consumers. Located in the center of Taebaek city, it has excellent accessibility, and it is only about a 2-minute walk from Hwangji Pond, a tourist attraction in Taebaek. It has become a popular destination for both Taebaek residents and tourists visiting the area.

365세이프타운은 안전이라는 독특한 주제를 통해 교육과 엔터테인먼트, 휴양, 레저기능을 복합화한 국내외 유례가 없는 공익적 테마파크이다. 365세이프타운은 3D, 4D로 실감나는 안전체험을 할 수 있는 장성지구(한국청소년안전체험관)와 트리트랙, 짚라인 등 야외체험시설을 통해 자신의 한계를 시험하는 중앙지구(챌린지월드), 그리고 실제 소방공무원들이 교육을 받는 전문 교육기관인 철암지구(강원도 소방학교)로 구성되어 있다.

구문소 지역 일대는 천연기념물 제417호로 지정된 ‘전기고생대 지층 및 하식지형’으로 고생대의 따뜻한 바다 환경에서 퇴적된 지층이 널리 분포된 지역이다. 또한 국내 유일하게 전기고생대 지질층서가 연속 관찰되고, 중기고생대 부정합면을 관찰할 수 있는 곳으로 학계에 가장 많은 관심을 받고 있는 곳이다. 특히 삼엽충을 비롯하여 완족동물, 필석류, 연체동물, 코노돈트 등 많은 화석이 산출되어 우리나라 고생대 화석의 보고라 할 수 있다. 고생대 자연환경과 그 곳에 살았던 생물역사를 추적할 수 있는 다양한 화석 및 퇴적구조를 구문소지역 일대에서 체험학습을 겸한 교육효과 향상과 학자들의 자연사 연구에 기여하고자 고생대자연사박물관을 건립하게 되었다.

Taebaek Gumunso (求門沼) is located in the waterway at the estuary of Hwangji Stream. Gumun (求門) is an old word for hole or cave, meaning 'swamp with a cave.' Currently, Hwangji Stream flows through an erosion cave and Gumunso before joining Cheoram Stream and continuing to the Nakdong River. Previously, before the cave was formed, Hwangji Stream flowed broadly around the southwest of the cave, but the formation of the cave changed its course to the current flow. The limestone near Taebaek Gumunso contains sedimentary structures such as desiccation cracks, ripple marks, salt traces, and bird's eye structures, as well as diverse fossils including trilobites, brachiopods, and cephalopods, showing the sedimentary environment and biota of the early Paleozoic. Also, the waterway downstream through the cave with Hyeonnae Stream is academically significant for studying river channel evolution. Gumunso is recorded in old documents such as the Sejong Sillok Jiriji as Cheoncheon (穿川: hole-pierced river), and is famed for its beautiful scenery and various legends. The paleoenvironment and erosion landforms of Taebaek Gumunso possess diverse geological and geomorphological features and are of great academic value as important material for research on the early Paleozoic paleoenvironment.
