Compact Taebaek trip for families in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Taebaek City · schedule Other · distance 32km · 4 stops · highlights Maebon…

There is a newly emerging attraction in Taebaek. It wasn’t a special tourist site but a highland vegetable cultivation area, which became a popular destination as its beautiful scenery spread by word of mouth—the Maebongsan Wind Power Complex and highland vegetable fields. Also, 365 Safe Town, Korea’s first safety experience theme park where visitors can have fun while learning, is gaining popularity. These are the main attractions offering a special opportunity to discover a new Taebaek beyond what was previously known.

Taebaek Wind Hill (Maebongsan Wind Power Complex) is known by this nickname because it is located on a hill where strong winds blow and wind turbines are installed. It is adjacent to National Road No. 35 and can be reached within 20 to 30 minutes by taking city bus number 13 from Taebaek Terminal in the city center. Maebongsan Wind Hill, at the top of the Maebongsan highland cabbage fields, is famous as a place to experience sunrise and sea of clouds. When the cabbages grow lushly on the wide land, the view is spectacular.
The name Yongyeon Cave means that a dragon from the dragon’s pond ascended to the sky following the valley. Yongyeon Cave is located at an elevation of 920m on the lower ridge of Geumdaebong, the central area of Baekdudaegan, and is believed to have been formed approximately 150 to 300 million years ago. The cave extends about 843m and consists of four plazas and a circular horizontal gallery. Inside, 38 rare species such as the long-legged blind cave beetle inhabit the cave. Nearby, the Daedeoksan Geumdaebong Ecological Landscape Conservation Area is famous for wildflowers that create a spectacular view, known as the heavenly garden.
Taebaek Euddeum Hanwoo is a beef restaurant popular with locals, located next to the Taebaek National Sports Center in Hwangji-dong, Taebaek-si. This restaurant operates a Hanwoo farm in Mungyeong and sources fresh beef directly from there. Mungyeong Hanwoo is known for its especially tender and flavorful meat. Taebaek Euddeum Hanwoo grills the meat over charcoal for an even more delicious taste, and the side dishes served are neat and tidy. For lunch, they offer stone plate doenjang-jjigae and earthen pot bulgogi. The stone plate doenjang-jjigae is made by boiling doenjang-jjigae with the oil left from grilling the meat, resulting in a rich broth, while the earthen pot bulgogi is a dish of sweetly stir-fried beef and vegetables, making for a hearty meal. Taebaek Euddeum Hanwoo uses domestic Hanwoo and domestic ingredients such as napa cabbage and red pepper powder, ensuring peace of mind when eating.
