Introduction

Completed in 2003 to coincide with the opening day of Gwangalli Beach, Gwangalli Beach Theme Street hosts various festivals and events every year. It has become a new attraction of Gwangalli Beach with artificial palm trees, sculptures, benches, and green spaces. The theme street along the beach is a pedestrian-centered public relaxation area that creates an exotic atmosphere. It extends along the coastal road from Hyupjin Taeyang Mansion in Namcheon-dong to Millak Hoe Town, featuring sidewalks on the beach side, sculptures such as the Observation Pavilion, streetlamps, tree plants, and benches, divided into the street of romance, the sunrise plaza, and the street of youth. To emphasize the pedestrian street concept, clay blocks cover the entire section. With the creation of Gwangalli Beach Theme Street, the area around Gwangalli Beach, which faced a steep decline after the construction of Subway Line 2, has regained its former fame as a street of youth, festivals, and family, also revitalizing the local commercial district. Throughout the year, numerous tourists from all over the country visit the beautiful Gwangalli Beach. Strolling along the well-maintained beach street, they enjoy the splendid night view of Gwangandaegyo Bridge and delicious food in Gwangalli Cafe Street and Millak Hoe Town, leaving lasting memories of a street of romance and nostalgia.
