Hyangga-ri Recreation Area is a place known for its beautiful scenery where, since old times, poets, monks, and carefree men with gisaeng companions enjoyed boating. Along the Seomjin River, which flows clear and calm, low mountains extend in succession, and there is a wide sandy beach about 2km long along the riverbank, surrounded by various trees including scenic rocks and old pines. The river is about 100m wide. Hyangga-ri Recreation Area is not only famous for its picturesque landscape but also as a fishing spot, especially in autumn when large-sized stone carp are often caught. Eight iron railway piers embedded in the river water are remnants from the Japanese occupation period, marking the abandoned attempt to build a railway connecting Sunchang and Namwon. These piers have been repurposed into a bicycle path, with a skywalk section made of special tempered glass in the middle of the bridge. The tunnel drilled through Okchulsan in Daegari, Pungsan-myeon, Sunchang-gun, Jeonbukteukbyeoljachi-do, has a length of 384 meters. It was constructed during the Japanese colonial period to lay railroad tracks for transporting rice produced in the areas of Sunchang, Namwon, and Damyang. Since 2013, this tunnel has been used as part of the 'Seomjingang Bicycle Path.' At the end of the tunnel flows the Seomjin River, and bridge piers constructed at the time for railway bridge installation remain. This area has long been known for its beautiful scenery and is called 'Hyangga Amusement Park,' attracting many tourists. Nearby, tourist infrastructure such as Hyangga Village and Seomjingang Hyangga Auto Camping Site is well established.
