Imjado is located at the southern end of the western sea of Korea, at the northernmost tip of the archipelago in Sinan-gun. It is adjacent to Jido-eup across the sea to the east, connected to the West Sea on the west, neighboring Jaeun-myeon across the sea to the south, and next to Nakwol-myeon, Yeonggwang-gun across the sea to the north. It is famous for Daegwang Beach, a long sandy beach stretching 12 km, one of the longest in Korea. Every April, the island hosts a tulip festival featuring 3 million tulips, creating a grand spectacle. Visitors can enjoy horseback riding experiences on the beach and kayaking in the tidal flats. The major local specialties are known as Imja's three delicacies (croaker fish, white croaker fish, and salted shrimp). With its beautiful scenery, food, and hands-on programs operated directly by local residents, it is an attractive themed travel destination.
임자해변승마공원은 국민관광지로도 지정된 곳으로 완만한 경사와 따뜻한 수온, 광활한 백사장에 넓은 곳에 위치하고 있어 해수욕과 승마를 같이 즐길 수 있다.
Located on the west side of Imjado, Daekwang Beach is the longest and widest beach in South Korea, with a white sandy shore stretching 12 km and a width exceeding 300 m. It became known after the completion of the bridge connecting Muan-gun and Sinan-gun and the operation of the ferry between Jido-eup and Imjado. The beach features a gentle slope, warm water, a vast white sand beach, a large camping ground with natural grass, sports fields, athletic facilities, showers, parking, and lodging, making it suitable for family vacationers as well as youth camps and group camping. Since 2008, an annual beachfront horseback riding competition has been held, and in 2009, the government established an equestrian training ground, making it one of the top beachfront horseback riding sites in the country. Several large and small inhabited and uninhabited islands such as Yuktari-do, Barammagi-do, Eoyumi-do, Barammagido, Gokkal Island, and Yukhakdo lie in front of the beach, and these islands are famous fishing spots for sea bass, sea bream, eels, and croaker. Daekwang Beach received the Blue Flag certification, awarded to clean beaches that meet over 100 criteria for safety, environment, and water quality management. Behind the beach lies a forest of crape myrtle, sea pine, and acacia trees, along with a camping area suitable for car camping. Together with Bigeumdo Myeongsasipri, Amtaedo Chupo, and Dochodo Simok Beach, it is considered one of Sinan’s four major beaches.
