📍 Gyeonggi-do Siheung-si Daeya-dong
Hauro is a road connecting Daeya-dong in Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, passing through Hau Gogae, to the Hau Gogae entrance intersection in Simgok-dong, Bucheon-si. It is a narrow road between Seongjusan and Bongmaesan mountains and is the shortest road connecting Bucheon and Siheung through Hohyeon-ro, Sosa-ro, and Beoman-ro. The road name was given because this area has long been called Hau Gogae. Hau Gogae got its name because it is high and steep, and people would pant "hau~ hau~" when crossing. It was mainly a road used by residents of Utdaeyari to sell salt, kimchi, and wood to Seoul and Bucheon. Compared to You Gogae, Hau Gogae is rougher and has more trees, so people using Hau Gogae would use You Gogae when using carts or handcarts. Another origin story says that Seongjusan where Hau Gogae is located was also called Wausan, and the pass on Wausan was first called Waugogae, which then changed to Hau Gogae due to a phonological reinforcement effect. Currently, there are many restaurants and cafes around Hau Gogae, making it a popular spot for dates and family gatherings.
