📍 Gyeonggi-do Seongnam-si Sujeong-gu Taepyeong-ro 119 (Taepyeong-dong)
Seongnam Hyeonchung Tower was established by Seongnam city on June 6, 1974, Memorial Day, at the foot of Yeongjangsan in Bokjeong-dong, commissioned to artist Il-Young Lee, to eternally honor the souls of the patriots and war heroes from Seongnam who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. On the right side of the tower, a dedication poem in three lines reads, "This is the place where the spirit of the nation stands, Those who walk with the homeland, the sun and moon will protect this hill." The tower faces south toward the entire city, featuring a central bronze sculpture of a man stepping forward with his left foot, holding a rope in his left hand and laurel leaves in his right, gazing into the distance. Below his feet, three pigeons carrying leaves are engraved flying upward. Every year on June 6, Memorial Day, a commemorative ceremony is held at Seongnam Hyeonchung Tower. This site is also a valuable educational place where people bring chrysanthemums to pay respects and learn the spirit of patriotism and loyalty to the country for future generations.
