Besides the well-known Cheongganjeong famed for its coastal scenery in Goseong-gun, there is the lesser-known Cheonhakjeong, located about a 10-minute drive north from Cheongganjeong, crossing Ayajin Hill to a village called Gyoam-ri. Cheonhakjeong was established in 1931 through the initiative of local leaders Han Chi-eung, Choi Soon-mun, and Kim Seong-woon. It is a single-story pavilion with two bays in the front and side, featuring a hip-and-gable octagonal roof. The pavilion's front bears a plaque with the name Cheonhakjeong, and inside are plaques with the Cheonhakjeong record and, to its left, a Cheonhakjeong poem plaque. Cheonhakjeong sits atop coastal cliffs carved with mysterious rock formations facing the East Sea, surrounded by pine trees over 100 years old, adding to its scenic beauty. This place is a well-known sunrise spot. Unlike the typical East Coast sunrise sites like Naksansa Uisangdae, this pavilion rests on high rocky cliffs, with dense pine forests around, creating a magnificent sunrise view. After enjoying the sunrise at Cheonhakjeong, it is also good to visit Munam-ri harbor along the coastal road heading north. Munam-ri port is a small harbor where jagged rocks extend into the sea, offering a peaceful fishing village atmosphere. The sunrise viewed from Neungpadae at Munam Port is as beautiful as any beach on the East Coast. It is a good choice to visit Munam Port to appreciate a quiet morning sunrise.
Seonnang Rock is a rocky coast developed in the granite area south of Songjiho Beach, where weathering landforms of granite and wave erosion combine to create a very unique geological landscape. In particular, thick quartz veins intrude between granite layers, forming a distinctive appearance. The name Seonnang Rock comes from the Seonnangdang (Seonghwangdang) shrine of Oho-ri village located there. Seonnangdang is a traditional Korean shrine area dedicated to the village guardian deity, Seonnangshin (Seonghwangsin), and is a place where it is taboo to damage or remove objects freely. Additionally, Seonnang Rock changes shape depending on the viewing direction (east, west, south, north), and is nicknamed Snoopy Rock because it resembles Snoopy. Especially remarkable is a small pine tree growing atop the rock. Next to the fan-shaped rock, there is another curious rock: a cube-shaped rock with a hole in the center and a small pine tree growing between its cracks.
