포항은 신라의 천년 수도 경주와 인접하여 그 당시의 흔적들이 많이 남아 있다. 또, 왜구가 일찍부터 출몰한 곳이라서 많은 성곽들이 축조되었다. 그 가운데 일부는 아직도 옛 모습을 간직하고 있다. 한반도를 호랑이의 형상으로 봤을 때 호랑이의 꼬리처럼 동해로 불쑥 솟아나간 곳에 호미곶(장기곶)이 있다.

Homigot Lighthouse is located at a place praised by Yukdang Choi Nam-seon, who described the sunrise at Homigot as one of the "Ten Views of Joseon," known for its beautiful scenery. Positioned at the tail of the tiger shape on the map of Korea, it is the first to greet the sun on the eastern tip of the Korean Peninsula. As the tallest lighthouse in Korea, it was newly installed and lit on December 20, 1908. Homigot Lighthouse is a precious cultural heritage with high historical and cultural value, designated as Gyeongsangbuk-do Local Cultural Asset No. 39 on August 4, 1982.

Odaeyang Mulhoe Restaurant is a famous eatery located in Pohang Bukbu Market known for its traditional gochujang mulhoe. Unlike the mulhoe served in broth, this place offers Pohang's traditional style of gochujang mulhoe. It is mixed with somyeon noodles, pear, gochujang seasoning, and ice without broth. Even without broth, you can enjoy a refreshing and cool taste. Additionally, the side dish bap sikhae that comes with the mulhoe is a delicacy, and the spicy soup served together is also excellent. Besides the main dish mulhoe, you can also enjoy sekkoshi, muchimhoe, and gwamegi.

옛날 상고시대 신라시대로부터 [해달못]이라고 부르던 것을 한자가 우리나라에 들어와서부터 한자식으로 부르게 되어 일월지라 부르고, 또 해와 달의 빛이 다시 돌아왔다고 광복지라 불렀다. 동쪽과 서쪽 지경이 약 250m, 남쪽과 북쪽의 폭이 약 150m로, 총면적 약 16,529m²(5,000평) 정도의 원형을 이루고 있다.

Unjesan Oeosa Temple is a sacred site that produced four great monks of Silla. It was founded during the 26th king of Silla, King Jinpyeong (579–632), and was originally called 'Hangsa Temple (恒沙寺)'. When Monk Wonhyo and Monk Hyegong practiced asceticism here, a divine contest was held to revive the fish in the stream; one fish did not survive while the other swam vigorously. Since each claimed to have saved a fish, the temple was named 'Oeosa (吾魚寺)' using the characters for 'I' (오) and 'fish' (어). Within the temple grounds are the Daeungjeon, Nahanjeon, Seolseondang, and Sanryeonggak halls. Except for the Daeungjeon, all were constructed recently. The Daeungjeon hall has a three-bay front, two-bay side, paljak roof, and multi-bracket architecture, and was rebuilt in the 17th year of King Yeongjo of Joseon (1741). Representative relics of the temple include the Daeungjeon (Gyeongbuk Cultural Property No. 88), the bronze bell (National Treasure No. 1280), and Monk Wonhyo's bamboo hat.

길이 1,750m에 폭 40~70m, 면적 406,613.4m²(123,000평)의 백사장을 갖춘 해수욕장으로 동해안에서 가장 큰 규모이다. 또한, 인근의 송도해수욕장과 더불어 포항의 대표적인 해수욕장으로 이름나 있으며 가족단위 피서에 적합한 곳이다. 도심권에 위치하여 포항시내의 편의 및 숙박시설로 큰 불편이 없으며 해산물이 많아 즉석 생선회를 맛볼 수 있다.
