The Pohang Naengsuri Silla Stele was discovered in 1989 by a villager while plowing a field. Upon local investigation, it was judged to be of valuable cultural heritage and designated a national treasure. The stele records that two Silla kings, Silseong and Naemul, granted land acquisition rights to Jeolgeori of Jinimachon. Representatives of various departments reconfirmed the kings' orders and decided that after Jeolgeori's death, no disputes over property distribution would arise, with violations punishable by severe penalties. Related records suggest it was erected in 503. As a state-established stele, it represents early Silla legal codes under royal command, providing valuable insight into the society of that era. It is also an important artifact for Silla history and epigraphy studies. The stele is a rectangular natural stone, wider at the base and tapering at the top, with inscriptions on three sides: front, back, and top. The inscriptions are well preserved with almost no erosion, making them legible. There are 231 characters in total, written mainly in regular script but retaining features of clerical script, closely resembling the forms of the Chungju Goguryeo Stele and Uljin Bongpyeong-ri Silla Stele. The Yeongil Naengsuri Tumuli are 6th-century stone chamber tombs from the early Silla period excavated south of the Han River. They are among the largest in scale and possess unique internal structures such as a burial chamber. Although looted before investigation, many artifacts including a coffin decorative item, a dalgae (yeongnak), and a gold ring were discovered, indicating these tombs likely belonged to the local elite.
Gyeongsangbuk-do Arboretum is located on the slopes of Naeyeonsan in Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do (average elevation 650m), and is the representative arboretum of Gyeongsangbuk-do, boasting the second largest scale among arboretums nationwide (2,926ha). It was established for the conservation and research of native Gyeongsangbuk-do species and national plant genetic resources, the creation of eco-friendly ecological education experience sites for enhancing residents' emotional well-being, and to form a forest ecological cultural zone linked with tourist sites on the East Coast and nearby botanical gardens. It is composed of 26 branches including the Ulleungdo Botanical Garden which reproduces the unique ecology of Ulleungdo vegetation, the Alpine Botanical Garden, and the Coniferous Garden. The arboretum also has experiential facilities such as the Forest Interpretation Exhibition Hall, Forest Experience Learning Center, Ecological Exploration Trails, and a Natural Experience Learning Center. Visitors can walk and observe beautiful plants with family, friends, or partners, and from Yeongchunjeong (observation deck), the sea of Pohang is visible at a glance. There are also hiking courses leading to nearby Bokyungsa Temple and Hyangnobong Peak of Naeyeonsan, making it an arboretum enjoyable for all ages.

Naeyeonsan (710m), located northeast of Songra-myeon, Buk-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk, is a mountain on the Taebaek mountain range known for its 12 waterfalls. Its beautiful scenery has earned it the nicknames Gyeongbuk's Geumgangsan or Sogeumgang. Originally called Jongnamsan, it was renamed Naeyeonsan after Queen Jinseong of Silla fled here during Gyeon Hwon's rebellion. The valley of Cheonghagol in Naeyeonsan, surrounded by high peaks such as Munsusan (622m), Hyangrobong (930m), Satgatbong (718m), and Cheollyeongsan (775m), is famous for its depth, serenity, and diverse waterfall shapes and pools. Among the 12 waterfalls of Cheonghagol, Gwaneum Falls (6th waterfall) and Yeonsan Falls (7th waterfall) boast the most stunning views. The twin Gwaneum Falls is surrounded by rocky cliffs called Seonildae, Sinseondae, Gwaneumdae, and Wolyeongdae, and next to its pond is a large Gwaneum Cave. Inside the cave, one can see the falling waterfall stream partially hidden by the entrance. Crossing the cloud bridge above Gwaneum Falls reveals the grandeur of Yeonsan Falls, which is 30m high and 40m long. It is the largest waterfall in Cheonghagol, with a huge flow plunging down a sheer cliff called Haksodae, eliciting awe. About 15 minutes further along the rocky ledge in front of Gwaneum Falls is another hidden waterfall named Eunpok, whose neat streams fall into a blue pool, calming visitors' minds. About 2.5km south lies the famous Bogyeongsa. Bogyeongsa Temple was built by Iljodaesa during King Jinpyeong's era of Silla after burying a Palmyeongyeong brought from India. Its grounds contain the Wonjinguksa Stele (Treasure) by Lee Song-ro from the Goryeo period, Pohang Bogyeongsa Seungtap (Treasure), and royal calligraphy by King Sukjong. From Bogyeongsa, hiking about 1.5km alongside the waterway leads to the first waterfall, Ssangsang Falls, modest but elegantly twin streams falling side by side. Following this are Bohyeon Falls (2nd), Sambo Falls (3rd), Jamryong Falls (4th), and Mubong Falls (5th). The hiking course starting at Bogyeongsa passing Bohyeonam~Sogeumgang Observatory~Eunpok Falls Junction~Seonildae~Yeonsan Falls and returning to Bogyeongsa is about 7.5km and takes 2 hours 40 minutes. This route covers all famous Naeyeonsan spots and offers viewing opportunities of waterfalls 1 through 7, making it the most beautiful course.
