Idong Galbi is a famous term for Koreans, representing the delicious hanu (Korean beef) short ribs that have been made with high quality meat and marinade. Nowadays, people can see signboards advertising Idong Galbi throughout Korea; however, the dish originated from Idong-myeon in Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. Idong Galbi Village began with two stores in the early 1960s. They became famous and many more restaurants began to serve this local specialty.

Pocheon Idong Galbi Village, located in Jangam-ri, Idong-myeon, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, is the original home of the famous Pocheon Idong Galbi, a name known to many. The village began to take shape in the early 1960s with the opening of 'Idong Galbi House' and 'Neutari Galbi House.' In the 1980s, members of a hiking and academic club who climbed Gukmangbong stopped for a meal and spread the delicious taste nationwide under the name Idong Galbi. Named after the area, Idong Galbi also refers to the method of connecting ribs and rib leftovers by skewering them with toothpicks. The secret to the flavor that made Pocheon Idong Galbi Village synonymous with Idong Galbi lies in selecting high-quality female Korean beef, marinating it overnight without chemical seasonings, and grilling it over an oak wood fire. Unfortunately, due to high costs and supply shortages, imported beef has become commonly used recently, but the unique flavoring method remains unchanged. Besides Idong Galbi, Idong Makgeolli, known for its perfect balance of sweetness and tangy taste, is also a Pocheon specialty. Nearby attractions include Bidulginang Village, Jain Temple, Heungryong Temple, Unaksan Natural Recreation Forest, and Pocheon Hyanggyo.
