Gyodong Gamaso's geological and morphological features include lava gas tubes. Gas tubes are passages through which gas inside the lava escapes to the outside as the lava cools. These gas tubes are abundantly visible in the basalt of Gyodong Gamaso. Additionally, within a single lava mass, the interior is found to be vesicular lava, while the exterior retains gas cavities where gas failed to escape. Morphologically, basalt erosion surfaces indicating the flow direction of a river can also be observed. This allows inference of the direction of the river flow in the past.
