Seodaesan⛰️ 905 m

Introduction

[Chungnam's Highest Peak with the Legend of Gyeonwoo and Jiknyeo] Seodaesan is the highest mountain in Chungnam, where there are few mountains over 900 meters. It is a large, solitary mountain called Biraesan, long from north to south and narrow from east to west. However, there are no plains at its base, and it is blocked by Jangryongsan (656m), Maebong (580m), and Daeseongsan (705m) to the east, and Dodeokbong (389.5m), Jibongsan (464.3m), and Maninsan (537.1m) to the west, so its full mountain form cannot be revealed. It brings to mind Lee Jung-hwan's second condition for a famous mountain: "It should be adjacent to a large river or the sea." The mountain's shape resembles the Yeouido Exhibition Hall and is not particularly striking, but there are many unique rock formations along the ridge, such as Gyeonwutan Geumdae, Oknyojik Geumdae, Dakbyeolsbawi, Madangbawi, Seonbawi, Namgeunbawi, and Ssalbawi. There are also caves like Yonggul and Sajagul, and waterfalls like Gaedeok Falls. However, due to inconvenient transportation and its lack of fame, it remains a quiet place. As suggested by the names of two representative rocks, the mountain holds the legend of Gyeonwoo and Jiknyeo. The story tells of Gyeonwoo playing the geomungo at Tangeumdae longing for Jiknyeo, who weaves cloth at Jikgeumdae, and how they meet at the summit of Seodaesan on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month.
