Janggun Charcoal-Grilled Jokbal, selected as a Baeknyeon Gage by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2018, is a jokbal specialty restaurant that has been thriving for over 30 years in Nowon-gu. It is a representative local favorite that turns first-time visitors into regulars. The signature charcoal-grilled jokbal is made by grilling boiled jokbal twice over charcoal, adding a smoky flavor. Another popular menu item, spicy charcoal-grilled jokbal, is seasoned with Janggun's special sauce and grilled over charcoal, giving it a spicy taste infused with the aroma of charcoal. Due to the charcoal cooking process, preparation takes an additional 10 to 15 minutes compared to regular jokbal. The original cold jokbal is an old-fashioned cold jokbal with a chewy texture like boiled pork slices, pairing perfectly with salted shrimp sauce.
