Jirisan

⛰️ 1915 m

Introduction

Jirisan, known as Namak among the five sacred mountains of Silla, features Cheonwangbong Peak (1,915m), the highest peak in the South Korean mainland, as its main summit. It forms a vast mountain range extending about 100 ri east to west, including peaks such as Nogodan (1,507m) and Banyabong (1,751m), creating the scenic 'Jirisan 12 Dongcheon.' It is recognized as the largest natural ecosystem in Korea and was designated as the first national park in 1967. The mountain's name originates from the belief that a foolish person who stays there becomes wise. Notable temples include Hwaeomsa, Cheoneunsa, Yeongoksa, and Ssanggyesa.
