Yongmunsa, an ancient temple located at the foot of Hogusan in Idong-myeon, Namhae-eup, is the oldest temple in Namhae and was established during the reign of King Ae-jang of Silla. It is a Namhae temple that produced twelve great monks. It is said that after the monk Wonhyo visited Geumsan and built Bogwangsa Temple, naming the mountain Bogwangsan, he erected the Cheomseonggak on Hogusan and moved Bogwangsa from Geumsan to this location. Yongmunsa is therefore the successor temple to Bogwangsa. According to another legend, during King Hyeonjong's reign in the Joseon Dynasty, there was a request to move the temple as its entrance touched the Namhaehyanggyo of Namhaehyeon. Then, Baewoldang Dae-sa chose a site above Yongsomaru Village to the south and named it Yongmun. Yongmunsa is also a patriotic temple where monks bravely fought in the Imjin War under the will of Samyeongdang. The cannon called Samhyeolpyo and the royal plaque of Suguksa, issued by King Sukjong to mark it as a patriotic temple preserved here, are evidence of this. King Sukjong designated Yongmunsa as Suguksa, built a prayer hall in the temple grounds for the royal family, and bestowed memorial tablets, Yeonokdeung (lanterns), Chokdae (incense burners), and banners. However, Yeonokdeung and Chokdae were lost during Japanese colonial rule, and now only the banner and Suguksa royal plaque are preserved.
Darangi Village is located in Namhae-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do. The ancestors expanded their farmland by cutting into the mountain slopes, building stone retaining walls, and creating terraced rice paddies. The narrow and long paddies start from the sea and continue in steps, facing Eungbongsan and Seolheulsan, the most beloved hiking trails in Namhae. Although the irregularly shaped paddies appear random, there are pleasant walking trails and observatories between them for comfortable exploration. It takes about an hour to visit Darangi's landmarks such as Amsuba Rock, Babmudeom, Cloud Bridge, and Mongdol Beach.
