오래된 폐역인 불정역에서 조금 올라가면 끊긴 철로 끝에 자리한 불정터널은 자연스러운 느낌과 고요한 분위기가 인상적인 곳이다. 과거 경북선 철도 운행 시절에 사용되었던 터널로 문경관광사격장 표지판이 있는 곳으로 찾아가야 한다. 독특한 곡선과 내부 구조가 인상적이며 터널 내 조명이 없어 낮 방문을 추천한다. 햇빛이 터널 안쪽으로 들어와 입구쪽부터 그라데이션으로 어둠과 밝음이 섞이는 모습을 배경으로 멋진 사진을 찍을 수 있어 오전 또는 이른 오후에 여행객들이 많이 방문하는 곳이다. 공간이 협소하고 방문 후 나갈 때는 안전 펜스 문을 꼭 닫고 야간 방문은 금하며, 공식 관광지가 아니기 때문에 관람과 사진 촬영에 주변 주민들이 방해되지 않게 주의가 필요하다.
