Introduction

[If it were three feet longer, it would touch the sky] Cheonmasan is a renowned mountain with a splendid peak soaring high into the sky. When traveling to Seoul via Gyeongchun National Road or along the Bukhang River road in Seojong-myeon, Yangpyeong, it stands out remarkably. Although the foothills in Pyeongnae, Maseok, and Onam-ri have become filled with apartment complexes, losing some of their tranquility, the mountain itself remains as impressive as any other. It is said that when Yi Seong-gye passed by, he remarked, "There are many green mountains everywhere, but that one looks as if a scepter is stuck into the blue sky. If only my hand were three feet longer, I could touch the sky from there." This is the origin of the abundant name Cheonmasan. The summit is rocky, but the foothills are composed of earth, making the fresh greenery in spring and the autumn foliage beautiful. The autumn leaves are so beautiful they can be described as "splendid sadness." Since a ski resort was established, the area receives a lot of snow, making the winter scenery worth seeing. Additionally, the vegetation is diverse enough to support northern plants like the Manchurian windflower. The entrance to the Cheonmasan Mind and Body Training Center in Hwado-eup is surrounded by a fir forest. At the rocky summit, old pine trees bend, creating an unforgettable landscape.

Visitor guide

Getting there

There are countless buses to Maseok from Cheongnyangni. You can also use the Gyeongchun Line train, which runs at one-hour intervals. Use Gyeongchun (Route 46) National Road. On the new national road, there are interchanges for Pyeongnae and Maseok.
