Pahoe, the 11th scenic spot of Muju Gucheon-dong, was named by Yeonjae Song Byeong-seon and is one of the three major attractions of Gucheon-dong. Clear water that had been still in a quiet pond rushes along rapids, breaking into spray, then circles back after hitting jagged rocks before flowing through narrow openings. The stream here forms a large S-shape like a snake, a unique terrain in Muju Gucheon-dong. A single old pine tree silently overlooks the scenic beauty of Pahoe from a huge rock; people call the pine the Cheonnyeon Song and the rock Cheonsongam. According to legend, a venerable monk from the Silla period stuck pine branches into the rock where there was no soil, and the pine tree still lives, having taken root.
