Muan, famous for its lotus flowers, leads you along the Yeongsan River from Isan-ri, Mongtan-myeon, Muan-gun to Hoisan Baekryeonji, where you arrive at Baekryeon Village full of lotus flowers. Baekryeonji was originally an unnamed agricultural reservoir, but when two reservoirs built during the Japanese colonial period were combined, it was named 'Bokyong.' At that time, reservoirs were essential to irrigate rice paddies, which were the main crop, but with the completion of the Yeongsan River estuary bank in 1981, agricultural water was drawn directly from the Yeongsan River. The unused reservoir gradually lowered its water level and became a thicket of lotus flowers.
