Introduction

밀양시에 위치한 구만계곡은 구만산 자락에 있는 계곡으로 임진왜란 때 9만 명이나 되는 백성들이 이곳에서 전쟁의 화를 피했다고 해서 붙여진 이름이다. 구만계곡은 동쪽과 서쪽에는 수직 암벽이 솟아 있고, 좁은 협곡은 남북으로 뚫려 있어 통수골이라 불리는 곳으로 높이 약 40m의 수직폭포인 구만폭포가 아름다운 비경을 만들고 있으며, 폭포 아래에는 직경이 15m 정도 되는 깊은 못이 형성되어 있다. 구만계곡에는 벼락듬이, 아들바위, 상여바위, 병풍바위 등 기암괴석과 넓은 암반이 곳곳에 자리 잡고 있으며, 소와 담들이 많이 있어 설악산의 천불동과 닮아 있다고 한다. 구만계곡 인근에는 얼음골, 석골사, 운문산 등 유명 관광지가 위치하고 있다.
