Gijang Market is located around Daerari in Gijang-eup and was transformed into a modern permanent market in 1985 according to the market modernization plan. Today, it has become a famous market where various goods such as seafood and agricultural products produced in Gijang are traded. The market in Gijang-gun is more fittingly called 'jeoja,' a Korean word for a traditional marketplace street, rather than just 'market.' Gijang Market is also known as the 'Paldo Market of the Sea.' A notable feature of Gijang Market is that distinctive markets form with each season. It is famous for seaweed and anchovies in spring, and hairtail fish markets in autumn. In particular, hairtail caught in Gijang during the two months around Chuseok is renowned nationwide for its delicious taste. The prices are also affordable, attracting wholesalers and consumers from all over the country who fill the market alleys. The seafood and other products at Gijang Market are cheaper than those at Jagalchi Market, the largest seafood market in the nation, making it a popular market frequently used by people from nearby areas.
Ahopsan Forest is located on the slopes of Ahopsan in Cheolma-myeon, Gijang, Busan, where you can experience an unspoiled natural environment and ecosystem. The forest consists of artificial woods such as bamboo groves, hinoki cypress forests, cedar trees, and ginkgo, as well as natural forests including 100- to 300-year-old Geumgang pines. Spanning a total area of 520,000 square meters, it is a privately owned forest that has been preserved for about 400 years. For nature conservation, access is restricted to a limited number of visitors with prior reservations. Unlike amusement parks or resorts, viewing is allowed only in ways that do not damage nature, but forest experience and play programs for children are provided, and forest interpretive tours are also available.
