전국에서 가장 한반도지형에 근접하다 하여 관광객들에게 인기를 모으고 있는 초평호 한반도지형은 두타산(598m) 삼형제봉에서 초평호를 굽어보면 위로는 중국이, 아래로는 한반도 지형과 제주도의 형상과 일본 열도가 있는 것처럼 보여 탄성을 자아내게 한다. 약 14.5m의 탑 모양의 전망대를 따라 전망대에 오르면 파란 하늘 아래 다소곳이 자리한 초평저수지와 저수지 물이 마치 삼면이 바다인 한반도를 감싼 청룡처럼 느껴진다. 용의 전설이 꿈틀대는 신비한 물길을 따라 왼쪽 아래를 내려다보면 중부권 최대 규모의 낚시터인 초평저수지에 좌대 낚시터와 함께 빽빽하게 벚꽃으로 가득 찬 꽃섬을 볼 수 있다.
