Jungmun Tourist Complex is an international tourism and resort area created in the Jungmun, Daepo, and Saekdal-dong areas of Seogwipo-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, utilizing Jeju’s unique natural scenery and geographical features. The complex includes nine deluxe hotels such as Shilla Hotel, Lotte Hotel, and Grand Chosun Hotel, along with attractions like Pacific Rizom, Yeomiji Botanical Garden, Teddy Bear Museum, Grim Forest, Alive Museum, Chocolate Land, Jeju International Peace Center, Cheonjeyeon Waterfall, Jusangjeolli Cliff, and Jungmun Golf Club. Particularly, Jungmun Saekdal Beach, known for surfing, yachting, parasailing, as well as sea-view cafes and walking trails, has recently gained popularity.
Jungmun Saekdal Beach is a beach with beautiful coastal scenery and exotic palm trees, located starting from Jungmun Tourist Complex and connecting to Cheonjeyeon Falls and Daepo Jusangjeolli. The beach is a bow-shaped white sand stretch about 560 meters long, attracting over one million visitors annually who enjoy various water sports. It was originally called Jinmosal, meaning long sandy beach. The sand here is a mixture of four colors: black, gray, red, and white, causing the beach's color to change depending on the sun's angle, harmonizing beautifully with Jeju's unique black volcanic stones. The waves are more frequent and higher than other beaches, popular among surfers, and the country's largest international surfing competition is held annually in June. Additionally, there are many water leisure activities such as water skiing, windsurfing, scuba diving, and jet boating, making it popular with water sports enthusiasts. A water quality survey conducted by the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements in 1999 named it the cleanest beach among 44 nationwide. Shiri Hill, overlooking Saekdal Beach, is another attraction and the filming location of the final scene of the movie Shiri, offering the most beautiful sunrise and sunset views in Jeju.
