Sarabong Park is a low hill located at Dongmun Rotary in Jeju City. The entire Sarabong is developed as a park, serving not only as a place for Jeju citizens to take walks or exercise but also enhancing the enjoyment of tourists climbing the oreum. Sabong Nakjo refers to the sunset viewed from Sarabong, and the sunset here is one of the twelve scenic views of Yeongju (the old name of Jeju), comparable to Seongsan Sunrise. Facing the sea to the north and Hallasan Mountain to the south, this place is popular among both Jeju residents and tourists. On the way to the park from the Sarabong Entrance bus stop is Mochungsa, and to the east of Sarabong lies Byeoldobong, where there is a paragliding launching site. At the foot is Udang Library, and the route from here around the back of Sarabong passing Jeju Port and then to Tap-dong is a famous driving course. In the afternoon, climbing Sarabong for exercise and a walk while enjoying the sunset over the sea and the emerging city lights allows you to experience the beauty of nature and the city at once. Not only the city lights but also the lights from the harbor offer another unique beauty found only at the seaside.
Gwandukjeong, designated as a treasure, is one of the oldest buildings in Jeju Island. It was built in the 30th year of King Sejong's reign during the Joseon Dynasty (1448) by Governor Shin Suk-cheong to train soldiers and cultivate the spirit of military discipline. The name Gwandukjeong comes from the phrase [Saigwanduk], reflecting that archery in peacetime is for physical and mental training and in wartime is for defending the country, making the place where it is done one born of virtue. The main beams are adorned with elegant murals such as the Ten Longevity Symbols, the Battle of Red Cliffs, and the Grand Hunting Scene. The signboard is said to be handwritten by Prince Anpyeong.
Yongduam, located on the northern coast near Jeju Airport, is named for its rock formation shaped like a dragon's head, sculpted over time by waves and wind. According to legend, a dragon stole the jade bead of the Halla Mountain spirit and fled, angering the spirit who shot an arrow causing the dragon to fall by the sea with its body submerged and head facing the sky, turning solid in that position. Another legend tells of a white horse whose wish was to become a dragon and ascend to the sky but was caught by a general and turned into a rock at that spot. Along the Yongdam-Dodu coastal road from Yongduam to Dodu Port, various cafes and restaurants offer enjoyable scenery and dining experiences. After having tea at the popular cafe village, following the sea road leads to Iho Beach, Hagwi Beach, and Aewol-eup. The northern Jeju coastal road from Aewol-eup to Yongduam is a favored dating course for Jeju residents.
Eoyeong Park is a long park made along the Yongdam coastal road in Jeju Island. Various lighting facilities are installed, making it a great place to enjoy the night view of Eoyeong Park after sunset, attracting many tourists. It is also part of Jeju Olle Trail Course 17, with steady foot traffic from Olle hikers. During the day, the open view, the sea right in front, and the refreshing sea breeze captivate visitors. In Eoyeong Park, visitors can enjoy both a cool view and poetry. Famous poems are displayed on benches and the seawall, along with murals that leave a gentle aftertaste with the poems. On top of the seawall, shellfish sculptures are erected, which are also points of interest. The Lorelei fairy statue also stands out. It is said that Jeju City and the German city of Lorelei exchanged the Lorelei fairy statue and Dolharubang as symbols of friendship, and this statue was installed here.
