Located at the foot of Gwang-i Oreum along Jeju-si Yeondong 1100 road, Halla Arboretum is an arboretum where Jeju native species and subtropical plants are planted and exhibited. It serves as a place for education and research for students and professionals and is also loved as a themed tourist destination. In particular, in 2000, the Ministry of Environment designated this site as a conservation institution outside of habitats for endangered protected wild plants. It exhibits a total of 1,321 species (530 woody species, 791 herbaceous species) including protected plants designated as endangered by the Ministry of Environment such as Nado Pungnan, Hallan, Pachoilyeop, and Gaettaechu, with over 100,000 individual plants. It provides a place for the preservation of genetic resources of Jeju native plants, learning and research, and offers rest space and tourist resources to provincial and city residents. ◎ Travel information to experience the charm of Hallyu - Featured on the variety show , a symbol of Jeju life, this arboretum exhibits over 1,100 species of Jeju native and subtropical plants. While many endangered and rare plants are present, it is good for light walks and healing. The 50,000-pyeong forest bathing area serves as a resting space like an urban forest for tourists and Jeju locals. The outdoor walking trails are open until 11 p.m., making it suitable for night walks.
Cheonwangsa Temple is located in one of the ninety-nine valleys, Geumbonggok, which lies under numerous peaks and valleys in the east of Eoseungsaeng on Hallasan. Established in 1955 by Monk Biryong, who practiced meditation in a nearby cave, it was originally called Suyeongsan Seonwon. Although not long established, it was designated as a traditional temple in 1994. Directly behind the Daeungjeon is a large rock called Yongbawi, and on the left side of the yard is a tall rock that, combined with the dense forest, creates a scenic view. Following the stream beside the temple leads to Seonnyeo Waterfall, the only waterfall on Hallasan, and there is a mineral spring at the temple entrance. The autumn foliage coloring beneath the rocky cliffs is known for its spectacular beauty.
At the summit, there is a circular crater lake (火口湖) approximately 250m in circumference, though it is not always filled with water. To the southwest lies the upper stream of Oedocheon, and to the east, the upper stream of Dogeuncheon. The summit retains remnants of artillery facilities installed by the Japanese military during the colonial period, and there is a spring midway down the southern slope. At the northern foot of ‘Eoseungsaeng Oreum’ is Hanbal Reservoir, where water originating from Eoseungsaeng—known for its mountain of fine horses—collects along the valley. Currently, it serves as the Eoseungsaeng Reservoir, a water source for the mid-mountain area. Locally, it is called Eoseusseungi or Eoseusingi. The name Eoseungsaeng (御乘生) literally means "birth of a royal horse," reflecting the Chinese characters, but considering the local pronunciations, it can be regarded as a phonetic representation.
