Pilaram Seowon is a seowon dedicated to Kim Inhu, a mid-Joseon scholar renowned for his excellence in Confucianism, loyalty, and literary skills. It is a historic seowon that survived Heungseon Daewongun's decree to abolish seowons. Pilaram Seowon was constructed following the seowon's functions of education and ritual, faithfully adopting the 'Jeonhak-humyo' layout—placing the study hall in front and the shrine behind. It holds many important records and materials related to seowon management and scholar education during the Joseon era, including woodblocks and documents designated as treasures and cultural heritage. In July 2019, along with nine other seowons nationwide, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list under the name 'Korean Seowon.'
