Hwangryong Market was originally located in Wolsandong near the current Hwangryong myeon office, but around 1962, as the old market site became cramped, it moved to the area of 151-1 Wolpyeong-ri, Hwangryong-myeon, and 1371 Samwoldong, Yeongcheon-ri, Jangseong-eup. In the mid-1950s, Byeon Jingap, who was then the mayor of Jangseong-eup, abolished Hwangryong Market and opened a market across from the current Jangseong-eup office, but the market was closed after six months. At that time, Go Yungyeong, then chairman of Hwangryonggang Byeonyeonghoe, donated 60 pyeong of paddy field, which revitalized Hwangryong Market. Additionally, the cattle market located in 1371 Samwoldong, Yeongcheon-ri, Jangseong-eup moved in 1980 to 151-6 Wolpyeong-ri, Hwangryong-myeon due to a narrow site. The market buildings were old and repaired gradually each year, and in 2001, 29 buildings were renovated into wooden structures in a single reconstruction, renewing its appearance.
