Yongdae-ri Hwangtae Village, responsible for 70% of the nation's dried pollack production, is the most famous dried pollack production area in the country. Known as a land of snow and ice, and embraced by the energy of Naeseorak, this place transforms pollack that has repeatedly frozen and thawed during the cold winter into plump fish with yellowish flesh, tender texture, and rich nutrition called hwangtae (dried pollack). Hwangtaechon Restaurant, where you can taste the genuine flavor of hwangtae hangover soup, especially loved by drinkers for relieving hangovers, is a dried pollack and mountain vegetable specialty restaurant that can seat 200 people simultaneously. Additionally, it serves as a small rest area with parking space for about 150 vehicles, and a separate 100-pyeong scale sales hall for dried pollack and local specialties is available. You can enjoy dishes such as steamed dried pollack, grilled dried pollack set meals, hwangtae hangover soup, mountain vegetable set meals, and mountain vegetable bibimbap.
