[Mountain Known for High Moor] Daeamsan is well known for its high moor and features a large and a small moor in a basin shape near the summit. The moor is irregularly shaped, approximately 150 meters east-west and about 100 meters north-south, with a gentle slope from northwest to southeast. This high moor holds significant academic value; between May 1968 and August 1969, 47 species of planktonic organisms were collected by Kim Doo-young (currently working at Gangwon-do Student Science Museum). Additionally, 123 species from 59 plant families are distributed on Daeamsan, including 19 species unique to the high moor and 15 previously unrecorded species, making it a biological treasure. On July 10, 1973, Daeamsan and nearby Daewoo Mountain were designated as natural protected areas. The summit of Daeamsan is a restricted hiking area; general hiking is only allowed on the southwest ridge course starting from the ecological botanical garden entrance.
