Namsan Park in Hwasun-eup is a neighborhood park established in October 1970, located in the center of Hwasun-eup. It is a low hill in the middle of Hwasun-eup, easily accessible to everyone, with good accessibility and well-maintained forest, serving as a good resting place for Hwasun residents for a long time. From spring to autumn, the walking paths of Namsan Park feature a beautiful flower festival with seasonal blooms such as rapeseed flowers, poppies, sunflowers, cosmos, and pink muhly. In addition, there are a grassy hill, a scenic walking garden, and a four-season garden. In the center of Namsan Park stand the County Residents' Hall, a memorial to Mr. Yang Han-muk, and the Memorial Tower for War Dead, as well as Seoyangjeong pavilion. There are also sports and cultural facilities such as a gateball field and Hwasun Cinema for convenience. Next to the Hwasun County Residents' Hall is a memorial to Mr. Yang Han-muk, a Korean independence activist and one of the 33 national representatives during the March 1st Movement, and Seoyangjeong, an archery range established to promote Kyungdo activities of Hwasun-eup local residents. The Seongan Mural Village, created through a village art project hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by Hwasun County in 2011, is adjacent to Namsan Park, allowing visitors to stroll and explore together.
화순군에 위치한 무등산국립공원동부사무소는 정상인 천왕봉을 중심으로 주상절리 등 암석들이 멋진 경관과 어우러져 있다. 그중에서도 가장 으뜸으로 손꼽는 코스는 규봉 코스다. 화순읍 수만리 수만탐방지원센터에서 출발해 장불재를 거쳐 규봉암에 도착하는 코스로 약 2시간 정도 소요된다. 중생대 백악기 후기에 화산이 폭발하면서 지표에 쌓인 화산재가 굳어 생긴 암석인 주상절리대와 풍화된 암석이 부서져 산비탈을 덮은 지공너덜은 주변 환경과 어우러져 형언하기 어려운 장관을 이루고 있다. 산속의 맑은 공기도 마시고, 계절마다 다양한 빛깔을 뽐내는 야생화도 보면서 걷다 보면 자연의 신비로움과 소중함을 느끼게 된다.
Manyeon Waterfall is located below the pass leading to Suman-ri on the eastern foothills of Manyeonsan in Hwasun-eup. The waterfall, which drops from a height of 10 meters, has been visited by people suffering from neuralgia who believed it could heal their illness. There is a legend about Manyeon Waterfall. Long ago, Manseok and Yeonsuni were in love, but Manseok had to go to war, and they parted. Yeonsuni waited for Manseok, who never returned. On the day she was to marry another under her parents' pressure, she saw Manseok, disfigured, at that place. Yeonsuni ran out of her bridal chamber and secretly met Manseok, arriving at this waterfall. They fell to their deaths under the waterfall, vowing to continue their unfinished love in the afterlife. Since then, the waterfall has been called Manyeon Waterfall. Nearby tourist attractions include Unjusa Temple, Hwasun Hyanggyo Confucian School, and Hwasun Dolmen Cluster.
Dongguri Lake Park is a walking trail course located at the northern foot of Manyeonsan in Hwasun-eup, and it is also famous as a cherry blossom viewing spot. Named after the village, the park surrounds Manyeon Reservoir and can be enjoyed in about 30 minutes. In spring, the fully blooming cherry blossoms make it an ideal place for a stroll and outing. The park offers various facilities including a waterfront promenade, grass plaza, children's playground, fitness equipment, and pavilion rest areas, making it a relaxing park visited by people of all ages.
Manyeonsa Precambrian granitic gneiss is one of the oldest geological sites among the rock layers around Mudeungsan. The Precambrian rocks here are distributed around Manyeonsa in Hwasun-gun and around the Gwangju subsidence basin. Specifically, to the east and south of the basin, they are widely distributed around Juamho in Sapyeong-myeon, Hancheon-myeon, and Iyang-myeon, Hwasun-gun. To the north, the distribution extends from Eodeungsan in Gwangsan-gu northeast toward Unnam-dong, Suwan district, Cheomdan district, and further to Jinwon-myeon, Jangseong-gun. In Gwangju Metropolitan City, it continues from Yangsan-dong, Bonchon-dong, Uchi-dong in Buk-gu to Bongsan-myeon, Damyang-gun. The granitic gneiss is a grayish white to gray coarse to medium-grained granitic rock showing partially poor foliation.
Hwasun is a region known for its high mountains, deep valleys, abundant water, and cliffs. The Sumanri Ecological Forest Park, extending from Sumanri in Hwasan-eup past Geunjae to Anyangsan, boasts spectacular scenery so remarkable it is called the Korean Alps. Sumanri consists of four natural villages—Mulchon, Saeteo, Mansu, and Jungji—surrounded by mountains on all sides, offering grand and beautiful landscapes in all seasons that provide a peaceful, healing experience. Multiple trails through maple and azalea forests have well-maintained wooden decks and resting areas, making it pleasant for walks. The path, filled with the scents of trees and earth, is wonderfully suited to feeling the energy of nature.
