Paroho is an artificial lake created by the construction of Hwacheon Dam, which was completed in 1944. When viewed from a distance, Paroho resembles a great phoenix spreading its wings in flight, which is why it was also named Daebungho. After liberation, the area belonged to North Korea but was recovered during the Korean War. To commemorate this, former President Syngman Rhee personally visited Hwacheon and named it Paroho, using the characters for 'break' (깨트릴 파) and 'barbarian' (오랑캐 노).

장원급제하고 돌아오겠다는 도련님을 기다리다 안타깝게 세상을 떠난 한 처녀의 넋을 기리는 의미에서 고개이름이 붙여졌다고 한다. 그 후로 마을에 해마다 풍년이 들어 현재의 풍산마을이라 불리게 됐다고 한다.

The Native Fish Ecological Experience Center is a place where visitors can observe and personally experience the ecology of various native fish inhabiting Hwacheon's Bukhangang River and Paro Lake. On the first floor of the center, visitors can see actual native fish species of Hwacheon such as sturgeon, mountain trout, and yellow spotted perch living in a pristine natural environment. The second floor displays fish models and offers various interactive experiences related to fish, including puzzle games. Although located somewhat outside Hwacheon city center, the beautiful mountains and valleys encountered along the way add another pleasure to the journey.

‘칠성전망대’는 1991년에 지어져 21여년이 지나면서 건축물과 내부관람시설이 일부 파손되고 노후되어 2013년 4월 19일 새롭게 현대적 감각에 맞도록 리모델링하여 안보관광상품으로 개발하게 되었다
